Mysterious taxi driver who exposed Governor Obado over Sharon’s murder
High Profile Witness: Detectives are relying on evidence given by a taxi driver, who drove Governor Okoth Obado during the fateful day that Sharon Otieno was murdered.
Treated as a ‘special witness’, the taxi driver, whose identity remains anonymous, was discovered from data record in Obado’s phone.
An officer, privy to ongoing investigation and who spoke in confidence, says the driver was however not aware he was carrying a VIP in his vehicle.
“He is treated as a high profile witness who will be unveiled in court. His identity cannot be revealed by now.
“The driver carried the governor to and from the crime scene. He was however unaware of his VIP client,” said the officer.
Evidence given by the mysterious driver indicates that Obado hired the Kisii based taxi from Oyugis where he’d dropped a client and both headed to the crime scene.
At the scene, the driver said, be saw his client (Obado) stepping on unidentified woman (Sharon) before they drove to Oyugis leaving the lady with a group of unidentified men who were torturing her.

“The findings were corroborated by statements obtained from three of the persons, including two suspects already in police custody, and another one whom detectives are treating as a key witness in the murder case.”
The last bit gives a loose description of the witness who is not in the police cell.
His evidence collaborated those given by another taxi driver Jackson Gombe, who drove the vehicle used in abduction of the slain student and journalist Barack Oduor.
Mr. Gombe, who was not also aware of plans by his clients, reportedly told the police that the Migori governor was at the murder scene.
The two accounts were backed by phone data that indicated Obado was in Homa Bay even though in his first statement, he insisted that he was in Nairobi.
