Joseph Irungu alias Jowie on Monday shared an emotional moment with his mum at the Milimani Law Courts moments before taking plea.
The suspect in the murder of 29-year-old Monica Kimani was warmly embraced by his mum and he could be seen fighting back tears.
Jowie and journalist Jacque Maribe appeared in court on Monday to take plea and both denied killing Monica.
The two will spend two more nights in custody after High Court Judge Jessy Lesiit ordered that they return to court on Wednesday, October 17 to be given a date for a hearing of their bail application.
Prior to this, Maribe had been remanded at the Lang’ata Women’s Prison while Jowie was at the Industrial Area Remand Prison.
Maribe’s lawyer, Katwa Kigen, had requested the court to speed up the mention of the case, arguing that the suspects have been in custody for long.
