Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Friday stated that the media had mismanaged the Kakamega twins puzzle and the girls need to be protected.

This is after the girls; Melon Lutenyo, Sharon Mathias and Mevies Imbaya, did numerous television interviews where they were subjected to tough questions.

“I personally feel that the story of Mevies, Melon and Sharon has been mismanaged by the press and the girls and family have not been given the protection they deserve,” said Murkomen.

His sentiments were echoed by Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior who noted that the girls should not be asked about their plans after DNA tests are conducted.

According to Kilonzo Jr, Mevies might be affected by all this and the three need counselling before being subjected to such tests.

“These girls found themselves in a saga that is not their making! The questions about what they will do after DNA are wrong.

“The non-twin may be traumatized in future. Please be considerate,” he said.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Communications Director Philip Etale also weighed in on the matter and urged the press to stop traumatizing the girls with numerous interviews.

“I repeat, the more the media interviews the twins (Sharon & Melon), the more Mevies looks desperate and distraught.

“Can the society stop the media from causing trauma to the two girls Sharon and Mevies… Please.

“I am watching Citizen Tv’s Lillian Muli interview with the three gracious girls and the lines on Mevies’ face tell it all,” he said.
