PHOTOS: DP William Ruto builds church at his Karen home: Deputy President William Ruto and his wife Rachel Ruto on Wednesday officially launched a National Prayer Altar at their residence in Karen.

The two were joined by various leaders of the clergy and Rachel went ahead to quote a Bible verse as part of their motivation towards building an altar for the Lord.

“Today, my husband the Deputy President and I were blessed to have been joined by Fathers of Faith and key leaders in various mountains of influence during the opening ceremony of our National Prayer Altar at the Official Residence of the Deputy President.

“And “David built there an altar to the LORD and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. Thus the LORD was moved by prayer for the land, and the plague was held back from Israel” (2 Samuel 24:25),” wrote the DP’s wife.

DP Ruto has been a constant figure at church functions all over the country and although some leaders questioned his givings, he maintained that he would not relent in supporting God’s work.

In April, he downplayed the planned review on church donations from politicians, saying he is a Christian and is not ashamed of his God.

“Since Sunday school we learned to kneel before and worship God that’s the only reason we stand before men. We will continue to worship Jehovah with our hearts and substance.

“We are unashamed of our God and unapologetic of our faith. We are Christians first other title after,” he said.
