The Maryland Howard County Executive Calvin Ball attended a picnic organized by Wakenya Wa Howard County on Saturday 28th September 2019. As an official who values diverse array of cultures,he was happy to attend the Kenyan event and experience Kenyan culture.
Among the attendee of the picnic was Naomi Mburu who recently graduated from UMBC with a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering. She is a shinning Kenyan star and flying Kenyan flag high in Howard County. In appreciation of her achievements, the County Executive mentions her by name in his social media posting.Here is his message:
Howard County is blessed to be home to a diverse array of cultures and backgrounds. It’s truly a privilege for the opportunity to commemorate them. I was excited to join WaKenya of Howard County for their annual picnic to celebrate Kenyan culture.
At the picnic, I was pleased to meet Naomi Mburu who recently graduated from UMBC with a Bachelors in Chemical Engineering. Naomi is the first Rhodes Scholar selected from UMBC. I’m excited to see what the future holds for her and wish her the best of luck as she pursues her studies!
