Inaugural Groundbreaking at Amani Ridge As Titles Arrives
The 2nd of May will remain a special day in the Optiven Limited calendar and more so with regard to the jewel project Amani Ridge | The Place of Peace. The day was marked with thanksgiving and fanfare following the ground breaking for a new house – the first on the project that was launched less than a year ago. The Kiambu-based project is one of the key ones under Optiven Limited aimed at settling some 30,000 Kenyans in their own affordable homes, amidst an ever increasing housing deficit in urban and peri-urban areas country wide. Optiven Group’s Team Leader, Mr. George Wachiuri while speaking ahead of the event noted that the company has strategic plans to increase exposure to residential areas with the motivation of helping thousands of middle-income families become homeowners. Amani Ridge | The Place of Peace consists of some 100 acres that has been transformed to better meet client needs. According to the Director for Projects at Optiven Group, Mr. Charles Muraguri, the project has been developed from the bushy investment it was in 2018 to a ready to settle project in May 2019. He added that much of the infrastructure has been completed as is the expectation from Optiven projects.
Wachiuri added that “owning a home is a dream for many families and requires innovative ways to provide affordable housing in Kenya. The investment by Optiven Limited in the Kiambu area is well aligned with wider efforts to close Kenya’s affordable housing gap. It is estimated that the project will have more than 2000 units. Optiven Limited has partnered with Trinity Surveyors who have catalyzed the availability of title deeds for the project to give investors both peace of mind and surety of their investments. Additionally, the groundbreaking will be overseen by Jirani Homes who have been providing construction services in Optiven Limited projects having completed residences at the Victory Gardens project in Kitengela. Under the tripartite partnership, Optiven Limited looks forward to improving the property and housing penetration rate, a critical factor in the contribution towards closing the housing gap for most Kenyans.
The initiative will support government’s efforts to manage its subsidised housing costs. Housing development—as part of the construction sector—is key for job creation which Optiven Limited has been pushing through it’s strategic plan and mentorship programme. Mr. Wachiuri has been leading consensus calls in different stakeholder forums to reduce building expenditures, while calling for adoption of new incentives such as land grants, tax exemptions and cash bonuses to developers who build homes for lower income families. Following the groundbreaking event, Mr. Wachiuri donated cement to be used for the foundation and congratulated the client who lives in Australia for the move to be the first to build at Amani Ridge | The Place of Peace. The residence will consist of a 4 bedroomed all ensuite house that is expected to be ready for occupancy not later than December 2019. Best congratulations to Leah and Geoffrey.
