For Lucy Njoroge, the journey of Andrew Karanja is more than just the success story of a former student, it is the fulfillment of seeds planted many years ago inside a classroom at Nakuru Baptist Academy. As the head teacher of the school, she remembers Andrew joining the institution in 2003 as a three-year-old child. From his earliest years through primary school, she describes him as obedient, disciplined, and hardworking qualities that continued to define him long after leaving the school.

Over the years, the school continued following his academic progress, watching him perform well in high school and later pursue higher education. Now, seeing him prepare to travel to the United States for his master’s degree has filled her with immense pride and gratitude. She believes his success is proof that strong values and hard work can eventually open doors to global opportunities.

Even as he begins a new chapter abroad, she encourages him to remain grounded in the character that shaped his journey from the beginning. Beyond Andrew’s personal success, Lucy also reflects on the broader challenges facing many young graduates in Kenya. She notes that many talented young people complete their studies but struggle to find opportunities that allow them to grow professionally. Because of this, she believes access to international education pathways can become life-changing for deserving students who simply lack financial resources or guidance.

Her message to young people is simple but powerful: discipline, persistence, and hard work still matter. She believes that students who remain focused and committed to their goals can eventually create opportunities not only for themselves, but also for others around them.

For Lucy Njoroge, watching Andrew leave for the United States is not just a proud moment for a teacher, it is a reminder of the lasting impact education can have when potential is nurtured early and supported consistently over time.
