NAIROBI, Kenya Oct 14 – Attorney General Professor Githu Muigai has now written to the CID director Ndegwa Muhoro, asking him to investigate Makadara MP Mike Mbuvi Sonko over a parcel of land valued at Sh 360 million in Nairobi.
Muigai said in the letter dated September 21 that Sonko had written a letter to Lands Minister James Orengo and copied to him alleging that the parcel of land located in Muthangari is a public property vested upon the Kenya police but had been grabbed by a private developer.
The AG said he had also received a separate from a director of a local firm which claims ownership of the prime piece of land.
“The purpose of this letter therefore is to request you to institute thorough investigations into the matter and report on the same appropriate action,” the AG’s letter to the CID states in part.
Sonko recently wrote to the AG accusing him of failing to protect public property.
“The developer alleges that I attempted to extort money from him. I wonder why he did not report the same to police and even trap me with treated money,” the MP wrote.
The Makadara Member of Parliament is not new to controversy, as he is known to even confront police officers in his quest to “fight for the people.”
Since his election to parliament, Sonko has led several demonstrations in his constituency demanding action over pieces of land perceived to have been grabbed.
