In 2023, a different Kenyan official, Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi, was implicated in a fake gold syndicate case involving a Dubai-based company.

She was accused of conspiring to fraudulently obtain over Sh100 million under the pretense of selling gold bars that were never delivered.

Amadi has denied these allegations, stating she will defend herself in court to set the record straight.

Subsequently, the court lifted orders that had frozen her bank accounts due to insufficient evidence linking her to the alleged fraud.

Additionally, in 2020, reports emerged of Kenyans falling victim to job scams in Dubai, where they were promised lucrative employment but were instead abandoned and exploited.

One such case involved Amani Hamisi Juma, who left a security job in Qatar, paid Sh200,000 to a recruiting agent, and was subsequently abandoned in Dubai.

He described living conditions where 50 people were cramped into one room, both men and women, and were not allowed to go out.
