The Pambazuka Alliance is now part of political history as parties making up the coalition pulled out after only 25 days of its existence.

The coalition that brought together the Federal Party of Kenya, New Ford Kenya, National Vision Party and Shirikisho Party has collapsed citing mistrust from particular members.

At the same time, the United Democratic Forum is ruling out a reunion with the Jubilee Alliance as it plots to go all the way to the ballot with Musalia Mudavadi as its flag bearer.

The collapse of the coalition uniting the Federal Party of Kenya, New Ford Kenya, National Vision Party, and Shirikisho Party highlights the persistent challenges within Kenya’s political landscape, characterized by shifting alliances and internal disagreements.

This development mirrors a broader pattern of coalition instability in the country.โ€‹

Historically, Kenya has experienced numerous coalition formations and dissolutions, often influenced by ethnic and regional affiliations.

For instance, the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC) in the early 2000s, which brought together various political entities to challenge the then-dominant Kenya African National Union (KANU), eventually disintegrated due to internal conflicts and disagreements over resource distribution. โ€‹

The recent dissolution of the coalition involving the Federal Party of Kenya and its allies is indicative of the challenges smaller parties face in maintaining unity, especially when larger parties exert influence over decision-making processes.

Such fragmentation can lead to political instability and may impact the effectiveness of opposition parties in holding the government accountable. โ€‹

This pattern of coalition volatility underscores the need for stronger party structures and adherence to democratic principles within political organizations.

Establishing clear policies and fostering internal democracy could enhance stability and contribute to a more robust political environment in Kenya.
