Friends of Raila (FORA) Expels Micah Kigen As Chairman

Kigen was kicked out over what was termed as “incapacity” to continue serving as its leader.

FORA passed a Vote Of No Confidence in Kigen saying that he had consistently ignored advice from the group and senior members of the Odinga campaign team.

“We have noted with deep concern that the outgoing FORA National Chairman Micah Kigen has consistently and with total disregard of our wise counsel, advice and warnings from the National Executive Committee (NEC) continued to engage public slandering, disparaging and maligning of ODM party officials,” said FORA.

“Kigen has continued to engage in actions that have cast doubt upon his honesty, integrity and therefore suitability to continue holding office as the FORA National Chairman.”

FORA said that NEC signed a petition and a vote of no confidence in Kigen was passed unanimously.

“Kigen has been replaced by Rev. Lawrence Bomett, ODM Governor aspirant for Nakuru County,” added FORA.

The lobby group noted that Rev. Bomett will bring “proven leadership credentials, enhanced mobilization capacity and decorum that befits this challenging position”.

“We shall ask the Raila for President mainstream campaign to consider redeploying Kigen to a more appropriate role within the campaign,” added FORA.

FORA announced that it will restructure its NEC to accommodate other coalition partners in the Coalition for Reforms and democracy (CORD).

“FORA is a key campaign organ in the Raila Odinga campaign effort and has worked and will continue working strenuously to market the Odinga’s bid in conjunction with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and other partners,” noted the lobby group.

“This is a process that has required maintenance of teamwork, collective responsibility, a harmonious working relationship and respect for laid down party and campaign structures.”
