Ruth Odinga claims her security detail withdrawn
Kisumu Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga has claimed that her security has been withdrawn.
Speaking at a press conference at Sunset hotel in Kisumu town, Ms Odinga who is the sister to the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga said she was not in a position to explain their withdrawal. She said that the officers were withdrawn last Friday.
“I used to have one officer assigned to me as a bodyguard and four others at my residence, two each at day time and two at night but since Friday they have not reported,” Odinga said.
Accompanied by her aides Catherine Odoyo and Syprose Awino, Odinga said she had reached out to the security bosses in the area over the matter.
She alleged that the officers told her it was a directive from the ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government that security guards of all the 47 Deputy Governors be withdrawn.
“It is however unfortunate that all my colleague deputy governors have informed me that they have their bodyguards intact,” she claimed.
