A diplomatic row is now looming between Kenya and the United States Government over claims that it aided its diplomat to flee from justice.
Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has sensationally claimed that the US Government aided one of its diplomats to escape from imminent arrest after he was engaged in a hit and run incident that claimed the life of one, Haji Lukindo.
The diplomat is said to have caused an accident that saw eight other passengers injured.
According to the PS, the diplomat left eight other passengers seriously wounded and with no financial support to pay for their hospital bills.
Kibicho is now calling for the repatriation of the diplomat to face justice in the country.
“The Government is caught up in diplomatic attempts to bring the American diplomat to Kenya in order to face justice.” Kibicho said.
The US government has not accorded the family any support for the loss of their loved one.
Lukindo, a father of three whose widow is six months pregnant, died after the matatu he was travelling in was involved in an accident with the diplomat’s car killing him on the spot.
The deceased was the only one who perished after the accident in Kangemi, Nairobi.
The U.S. Embassy officials in Nairobi are said to have rushed the American and his family out of Kenya the next day after the accident.
