Police rescue NTV’s Linus Kaikai from kidnappers

Nairobi, Kenya: A senior staff working with the Nation Media was Thursday night rescued by police officers in Ongata Rongai after a five man gang carjacked him as he entered his home in Nalepo area.


Police reports indicate that the gang, two armed with rifles, carjacked Linus Kaikai as he awaited for his gate to be opened before they drove him for hours before he was rescued.

Rongai police boss Francis Sang said Linus was found safe after being abandoned 300 metres away from his gate.

He said the gang fled after sensing danger stealing Kaikai’s mobile phone and money.

The assailants fled after sensing that something was amiss and took his mobile phone and some cash from him’ Sang told The Standard.

He said police have launched investigations and vowed that the assailants will be brought to book.

‘Police have launched investigations and we will bring the assailants to book and they will face the wrath of the law,’ he added.

Rongai residents have decried over increasing cases of insecurity in town with two people being shot at their gates in one week.

Tony Kago, a former Nation Media journalist, was shot on Sunday night at his gate in his Rongai home by armed gang who had waited for him.

Police reports indicate that he had called his wife to open for him the gate before the attakers approached his car window and shot him where he died on his way to hospital.

On Thursday morning, attackers also attacked a middle aged man in Olerai area when he was leaving his home for work.

The man, who was opening his gate to leave for work at 5am was shot by the attackers who were waiting for him outside his gate.

Rongai OCPD, Simion Sang said security has been beefed up in the town as a way of ending the menace.-standardmedia.co.ke
