Word of the Day: Lead by Example

Word of the Day:Lead by Example

When in a position of leadership, your message is driven home much better when you actually act upon what you are teaching or asking people to do. Drawing an example from a mother cheetah, shebrings a live gazelle to her 6-month-old cubs and releases it to them. After the cubs make several unsuccessful attacks the mother now demonstrates to them how to โ€˜catch dinnerโ€™.

As believers and followers of Christ, if we want to teach others about God and serving him we cannot downplay the power of example. Our Lord Jesus did exactly this by living an exemplary life to those around him. Leadership by example is definitely contagious. Imagine if you met a life insurance salesman convincing you to get covered under this insurance cover. You would be convinced more by the one who is reaping from the benefits of having covered his family under that policy rather than the one who has never used that policy.

This is the same for us as believers. We should live by the word and follow what God instructs us to do. Many of us struggle with bitterness, difficulty in forgiving others, jealousy, anger and when confronted we could defend ourselves that it is our weakness. This should not be so as we are commanded to forgive just as our Father forgave us, not to have any form of bitterness and getting rid of all anger. Today, letโ€™s aim to lead by example even as we follow the example of Christ.

” Be shepherds of Godโ€™s flock that is under your care, serving as overseersโ€”not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.”
1st Peter 5:2-3
