Senator Mike Sonko,Governor Hasan Joho and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga came together to cheer Harambee Stars during CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup quarter finals with Rwanda.The Stars progressed to the semi-finals after a hard fought 1-0 win over Rwanda played at the Mombasa County Stadium .
Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko in his patriotic spirit came out showing his solidarity with Harambee Stars as his over 150 buses ferried fans to Kasarani stadium.
Governor Sonko joined the team coordinating the free transport for the fans to cheer Kenya in the crucial match against Ethiopia.
He pledged to give the team Ksh3 Million should they win against Ethiopia who held them to a 0-0 draw earlier on Wednesday.
The governor, carrying bundles of Ksh200 notes, dished out money to the fans saying the token was meant to cater for their lunch given they were being ferried to the stadium four hours before the kickoff.
The Sunday 4:00 p.m clash is crucial to Kenya as a win would mean Stars qualify to the 2019 AFCON in Cameroon ending a 14-year jinx.
Kasarani stadium opened gates to the anxious fans who started streaming in as early as 9:00 a.m with various leaders posting goodwill messages to the team on social media.
In 2004, Kenya played in the AFCON with Jacob Ghost Mulee being the first and only Kenyan coach to have taken Harambee Stars to the African Cup Of Nations.
