Kenya’s Geoffrey Mutai wins NYC marathon

Kenya’s Geoffrey Mutai won the New York City Half Marathon as Mo Farah collapsed at the finish line while Kenya’s Stephen Sambu came in third.

Mutai won in in 1:00.50 while Mo Farah came in second clocking 1:01.07.

Olympic champion Mo Farah collapsed in sub zero temperatures after finishing second showing remarkable grit after he had earlier stumbled at the nine-mile mark.

The Kenyan team that was chasing closely at his heel, took advantage of his fall to surge ahead but Farah valiantly fought back the competition claim a place on the podium.

However, as he crossed the line Mo fell to the ground. Paramedics quickly rushed to his aid and took him away.

Witnesses said Farah appeared unconscious for several minutes before being wheeled away for further medical assistance away in a wheelchair for further.-nation.co.ke
