Word of the Day: Are You Tending the Garden of Your Heart?

Are you tending the garden of your heart? The Secret Garden, a novel tells the story of a young girl who went to live with her wealthy Uncle. Mary met a friend with whom they discovered a fenced garden locked up by her uncle. The garden looked dead because of great neglect but with time it started to blossom because the two children worked on it by weeding and proper tending of the garden.

We all have secret gardens where no one knows about it except ourselves. How then we tend it determines what grows out of it. This can be in speech or behavior. Therefore, what seeds have you planted in your garden? Are they the seeds that will produce the fruits of the Holy Spirit or seeds that produce fruits of that are of sinful nature?

Guarding what we take into our hearts and monitoring our response determines what will take root in our garden. We should therefore tend our gardens by uprooting all forms of weeds which present themselves in form of resentment, lust, bitterness and replace them with the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.”
