DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT:BARTHOLOMEW “KANDA” ABURI OF JERSEY CITY, NJ

It is with profound sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the sudden passing to Glory of Bartholomew “Kanda” Aburi, (K-Star) of Jersey City, New Jersey.

Kanda as he was known was called to the Lord early yesterday morning, Monday, March 31st 2014. He was found unresponsive in bed by his mother as she made her routinely check on her children before she left for work in the morning. He was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

 

Left to mourn him are his parents, Mr. Aloys and Mrs. Martha Aburi and his sister, Esther Aburi all of Jersey City, New Jersey and a host of relatives in Kenya.

He was a parishoner of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Jersey City and was a beloved member and the piano player of the St. Patrick’s Jumuia Choir and The New Jersey Catholic Community Choir.

 

Kanda was also the popular Recording Artist known as K-Star (Kenyan Star) who sung and produced various singles through his Msanii Productions label and was popular in the East African community in the US.

He had just returned to New Jersey that Sunday, from a weekend trip to Maryland where he had performed.

 

Kanda went Gusii Highlights Primary School up to the 7th grade and when his family relocated to the USA in Nov 2003, he joined Nicolas Copernicus No. 25 Elementary School and William L. Dickenson High School in Jersey City.

 

He was a Mechanical Engineering student at Essex County Community College in Newark, New Jersey and worked part time as a Sanitation Officer for the Jersey City Police Department.

 

Family, friends and well wishers are meeting daily for prayers, support and funeral arrangements at his parents’ residence: 267 Clerk Street, Jersey City, New Jersey 07304

 

After 5:00pm, visitors to the Aburi residence can park at the St. Patrick’s Church/ School Parking Lot, 509 Bramhall Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07304

and let perpetual light shine upon him.
