โ€œWe are here in response to summons by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission. My client Mr Kamani has attended pursuant to those summons and we have had a hearty discussion. He has answered all their queries to the best of his ability and for the details, you must ask the EACC,โ€ Nyabodi told journalists who had camped at the EACCโ€™s Integrity Centre headquarters.

EACC chairman Mumo Matemu was said to be away in Mombasa at the time of Kamaniโ€™s questioning.

Kamani was arrested at his home in Spring Valley amid a storm over the payment of Sh1.4 billion to two Anglo Leasing firms, and demand for a further payment of Sh3.5 billion.

The arrest comes in the wake of a declaration by the chairman of Parliamentโ€™s Public Accounts Committee Ababu Namwamba that anyone found complicit in the Anglo Leasing saga will be brought to book.

Apart from the Sh1.4billion, Kenya is expected to pay a further Sh1.2 billion in interest for delayed payment.
