Former Public Works PS Gideon Mulyungi has been elected to the International Union of Architects to represent Kenya and Africa for three years.

He joins three others from Morrocco, Egypt and Tanzania who were elected during the union’s world congress held in Durban, South Africa, last week.

The union brings together all architects in the world under one umbrella. Mulyungi is currently the vice president of the African Union of Architects and chairman of Tectonics International Architects.

He previously served as chairman of the Architectural Association of Kenya and the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors of Kenya. He also served as the president of the East African Institute of Architects.

Mulyungi is a fellow member of the Architectural Association of Kenya. He will be assisted by Waweru Gatheca, the current chairman of the Architectural Association of Kenya, who has been appointed his deputy for the three years.
