Respect Us, MCAs Tell Senate, National Assembly

A retreat by members of the 47 county assemblies has started at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi as they seek a common stand on the referendum debate.

County assembly speakers who spoke during the opening session on Saturday morning demanded respect from the Senate and National assemblies with Nairobi County Assembly speaker Alex Ole Magelo saying MCAs will protect devolution at all costs.

Magelo also says MCAs will continue pushing for grants, mortgages, car loans enjoyed by MPs and Senators.

Kakamega County Assembly speaker Steven Ambulwa intimated that county assemblies will not be manipulated to rubberstamp decisions made by Parliament and Senate.

Other county assembly speakers echoed similar sentiments.
