The Diaspora Homecoming Conference that was scaled to a Diaspora Convention following its postponement to March 2015, attracted more than 200 Kenyans from all over the World. The Convention which was held on December 19, 2014, was attended by among others Mr. Washington Oloo, the Director of the Diaspora Affairs in Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Prof. PLO Lumumba (Director, Kenya school of Law).
Talking on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International trade, the Director of Diaspora Affairs and consular Affairs, Mr. Washington Oloo announced that the Kenya Diaspora draft Policy has been ratified by the Cabinet and plans are underway to launch it soon and to intensify Diaspora engagement. The Director said, ” The Government is committed to working with all Diaspora organizations and individuals who want to contribute to the development of this country. I encourage all Diaspora organizations and individuals to take part in events like this to help deepen communication between my office and Kenyans in Diaspora”.
The theme of the one day convention was Diaspora Investments and Youth Empowerment Engage, Empower and Invest.
