A British national accused of murdering his Kenyan girlfriend by flushing her diabetes drugs down the toilet has been re-arrested and is set to appear in court on Thursday.

Forty-one-year-old Carl Singleton had a month ago been released after he was arrested on November 23, two days after the death of Ashley Agumbi, 22 in her house in Kabete.

Mr Singleton was rearrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as he was planning to travel to the UK.

Mr Singleton is suspected to have caused the death of Ms Agumbi after he flushed her insulin medicine down the toilet and not taking her to hospital on time when she developed complications.

Ms Agumbi, according to Police records, died at a hospital in Eastleigh after she suffered hypertension and respiratory failures.

Following her death, her friend and cousin alleged that Mr Singleton had locked her inside the house she lived in in Kabete after he flushed her medicine in the toilet.

He appeared in court before Magistrate Hanna Kaguru on Wednesday December 3 and was released but the Director of Public Prosecutions, Keriako Tobiko revisited the file and decided to re-arrest him.

Ashley, a University of Nairobi student, and Mr Singleton are said to have met on Facebook two years ago before Mr Singleton came to Kenya on a Tourist Visa.
