A woman waited in vain for her Italian groom-to-be to turn up for their wedding on Valentine’s Day.
Eunice Njeri, 27, was to marry the 37-year-old businessman at St Mary Immaculate church in Muchatha, Kiambu county.
Njeri works as a secretary at a private firm in Nairobi.
The bridal party left the church after waiting from 8am to about 11am, when there was still no communication from the groom and his men.
One Jackson Maina told KNA at the bride’s home that the wedding was cancelled since the groom was not answering his phone.
Residents of Nguruwe village who had turned up to witness the marriage of “their daughter to a white man” carried their gifts back home.
The couple had courted for a year.
