Uhuru Kenyatta is the most popular president in Sub saharan Africa in terms of Facebook following, according to a new survey comparing the popularity of Heads of States globally.
Sub saharan Africa has 49 countries of the entire 54 nations in African and Uhuru Kenyatta emerged the most followed leader in the region.
According to a study by Burson-Marsteller, a leading global public relations and communications, Uhuru’s 2 million Facebook followers ranks him ahead of all Sub saharan presidents.
Based on data collected in January 2016, the World Leaders on Facebook study found that 169 of the 193 UN member states maintain an official Facebook page.

U.S President Barack Obama is the most popular world leader on Facebook with 46 million likes on his Barack Obama campaign page.
“THIS FIRST STUDY ABOUT GOVERNMENTS’ USE OF FACEBOOK PROVIDES VALUABLE INSIGHTS ABOUT THE COMMUNICATIONS PRACTICES OF POLITICAL LEADERS AROUND THE WORLD,” SAID DONALD BAER, CEO OF BURSON-MARSTELLER.
Tellingly, most of Uhuru’s official engagements are shared through his Facebook and Twitter accounts as he targets to leverage on the two widely used social media platforms to communicate to the public.
Over the past eight years, Facebook has become the platform of choice for world leaders and governments to engage with their voters and constituents.
