Kalonzo, Wetang’ula want Raila to honour 2013 deal

Kalonzo and WetangulaCord co-principals Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula now want their coalition leader Raila Odinga to honour the 2013 pre-election agreement or risk the unity of Cord.

The two, who held a secret three-hour meeting at Wetang’ula’s Karen residence before moving to Serena Hotel yesterday, are said to have threatened to pull out of the coalition, if Raila does not support Kalonzo next year.

“The two leaders met and discussed a number of issues affecting the coalition, but not severing ties with Cord,” Ford Kenya MP Chris Wamalwa (Kiminini) said.

He did not explain why the “issues” the two discussed could not wait for the return of Raila, who is out of the country. Another Wiper MP, who did not wish to be named, denied claims the secret meeting between Kalonzo and Wetang’ula was to plan post-Cord. “We were not invited to Cord, we took part in its formation,” he said.
