Catherine Zawadi grew up in Kajiado, County, with her eyes set firmly on the United States. When she came across an ISP advert on TV in 2020, she started following the program closely and five years later, in January 2025, she finally took the leap.
The process, she says, was seamless. Applications, visa prep, mock interviews; ISP guided her through every stage.
But the embassy had other plans the first time around. Her June 2025 interview ended in rejection.
She went back in November, calmer and more prepared. When the same officer who had denied her called her forward, she calmly told him she’d been there before and was redirected to a new window. She answered every question with clarity, her reasons for choosing the University of Delaware, her work as a business analyst, and research she had conducted on financial fraud in Kenya. That last detail visibly impressed the officer.
Left hand on the scanner. White paper. Yellow paper. Five days later, her visa was approved.
Catherine is now headed to the University of Delaware to pursue a Master of Science in Business Analytics and Information Management, combining finance with technology to build a career without borders.
“I promise to work hard and not fail them.”
