Deputy President William Ruto on Tuesday hinted that the new Jubilee Party was willing to accommodate Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka in case he defected from the CORD coalition.
During his tour in Emali, Makueni County, Ruto took a jibe at the Opposition for their inability to pick the CORD flagbearer.
While seemingly mocking the Opposition, Ruto asked the locals to join Jubilee after the Wiper Party declared on Saturday that they had other options.
“Ata Juzi mumeona Kalonzo amesema yeye ako na options… Kwa sababu ile ya mgawanyiko iko na kisirani… sasa nyinyi ata mkiona option… option ni gani?”
Loosely translated: “Recently you heard Kalonzo say that he had other options…its because there is discord in the Opposition. Which option do you think that is?” Ruto posed, alluding to Kalonzo’s only option being to join Jubilee.
The DP urged the residents to work with the government to enhance development in the country.
Wiper Chairman David Musila on Sunday disclosed that the party had other options after ODM hinted that they could go all alone in 2017 Elections.
“We are deeply concerned about the sentiments in the past few weeks by ODM leaders that the party was ready to go it alone. The kind of chest-thumping that it is the biggest party is not acceptable. I want to tell them that Wiper has its options,” Musila warned.
Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana, who accompanied the DP, echoed his sentiments and urged Kalonzo to consider other options that were available.
