Five people were killed on the spot on Saturday morning in a tragic accident involving an oil tanker and a matatu.
The midnight accident, which happened at Timboroa along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway, led to the death of the matatu driver, three passengers, and the tanker driver.
The matatu belonging to Eldoret Sacco was en route to Eldoret from Nairobi while the tanker was heading towards Nakuru.
The deceased were taken to Eldama Ravine Hospital mortuary while the injured were rushed to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.
The accident comes days after the horrific Naivasha tragedy where a lorry carrying fuel lost control, rammed into 13 other vehicles before bursting into flames along the Nairobi-Naivasha Highway.
Over 44 lives were claimed including 11 General Service Unit (GSU) officers attached to President Uhuru Kenyatta‘s security detail.
