Nyali Member of Parliament (MP) Hezron Awiti’s business premise was on Friday raided by goons who destroyed property estimated to be worth millions in Mombasa County.
The thugs, raided Habo Agencies building located along Jomo Kenyatta Avenue and destroyed windows, computers and other equipments before they escaped.
Confirming the incident, Mombasa Criminal Investigation boss, Jacob Kanake, divulged that they had launched a probe into the matter after getting crucial information.
Speaking at the scene, Mr Awiti said that those were the works of his political rivals, who were trying to intimidate him.
The legislator claimed that his life was in danger and that there were people who intended to silence him.
The Nyali MP has declared that he will vie for the Mombasa Gubernatorial seat in the upcoming General Election and will face incumbent Governor Hassan Joho.
The rivalry between the two was manifested on Monday during Jamhuri Day celebrations after their supporters clashed and disrupted the event in the County.
It took the intervention of police officers who lobbed tear gas and dispersed the warring groups.
