Police Friday arrested a suspected drug trafficker at Moi International Airport in Mombasa with heroin valued at more than Sh10 million.
The man, identified as Mohamed Jibril Ali, 51, had concealed the drugs in his shoe soles.
Mombasa county commander Peterson Maelo said Ali, was traveling to Dubai and was about to board a Rwandese air plane when he was arrested.
Maelo said anti narcotic detectives have taken over the case and handed over the drug sample to the Government Chemist for further analysis.
Maelo said the suspect will be arraigned in Court once the investigation is completed.
He spoke days after the extradition two sons of slain drug baron Ibrahim Akasha and two foreigners to New York, US for drug trafficking charges.
Baktash and Ibrahim Akasha and foreigners Vijay Goswami (Indian) and Hussein Shabakash (Pakistani) have been charged with “participating in a massive global drug trafficking enterprise.

Meanwhile a special unit has been formed to enhance the war on drugs in the Coastal region.
