Siaya, Nairobi: Nominated MP Oburu Oginga failed to clinch Bondo ODM ticket after being floored by incumbent Gideon Ochanda with 28,446 votes against 4000.

At the same time Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga won the  ODM nominations with a landslide beating his closest challenger Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo; Senator James Orengo and Women Rep Christine Ombaka were also successful in beating their rivals.

In Gem Elisha Odhiambo humiliated area MP Jakoyo Midiwo in the ODM primaries with 13,400 votes against 8,950; Midiwo has so far disputed the results.

In the 2017 Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) primaries, both Oburu Oginga and Jakoyo Midiwo, prominent figures in Kenyan politics, were defeated in their respective races.​

Oburu Oginga, who is the brother of ODM leader Raila Odinga, contested the Bondo parliamentary seat but was defeated by incumbent Gideon Ochanda.

Ochanda secured 28,446 votes, while Oburu garnered only 4,000 votes, resulting in a significant loss for the seasoned politician .​

Similarly, Jakoyo Midiwo, serving as the National Assembly Deputy Minority Leader, lost the Gem parliamentary seat nomination to Elisha Odhiambo.

Odhiambo received 13,400 votes, while Midiwo obtained 8,950 votes. Midiwo contested the results, alleging irregularities and claiming that the nomination process was not free and fair .​
