The African Impala in its natural habitation can leap 10 feet high and cover a distance of up to 30 feet ahead.

BUT in a zoo, it´s another story for this agile animal. It will not attempt to jump a 3 feet wall even if it has the potential to escape the zoo.

African impalas in the wild are known for their agility and leaping ability — they can jump over 10 feet high and cover 30 feet in a single bound. But in a zoo, they may not jump even low fences because of learned limitations or lack of motivation.

  • Meaning in behavior: You (or someone) might have great potential but feel trapped by perceived limits or comfort zones — like having the power to leap but choosing not to.
  • Emotional undertone: Frustration, complacency, underachievement.
