NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 21 – The National Super Alliance (NASA) has expressed concern over the number of candidates who are conceding defeat following the August 8 elections.
Through its Head of Campaign Secretariat Musalia Mudavadi, NASA has accused the Jubilee administration of putting pressure on Opposition candidates to concede defeat.
“The most disturbing feature of this arbitrary political pressure to concede defeat is that it involves threats and intimidation particularly by waving the spectre of prosecution, unwarranted and excessive tax assessments and demands, and interference with legitimate business or other enterprises,” Mudavadi in a statement.
This comes after Evans Kidero conceded defeat in public, when he attended the swearing-in of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
Kidero was among Opposition candidates who had vowed to challenge the outcome of the August 8 polls in court, with his change of heart seen as a statement of faith in the polls outcome.
NASA is however contesting the presidential result at the Supreme Court.
“Today, Nairobi had witnessed the hallmark of democracy. Transfer of power from one freely elected governor to the next,” said Kidero in his concession speech.
NASA filed a petition on Friday night at the Supreme Court arguing that the just concluded poll was marred with malpractices.
“As NASA, we had noted the strange and odd wins in several counties including Garissa, Machakos, Nairobi, Narok, Kajiado, Wajir and Marsabit, where a computer-generated formula, using the same algorithm, unlawfully and fraudulently secured victories for Jubilee candidates who purportedly ended up winning seats by similar percentages,” Mudavadi went on.
He said in a statement issued Monday that Jubilee “is deeply insecure and worried about its own survival, knowing well that it lacks the mandate of the people. The regime knows every court case will expose the fraud that it is and is therefore willing to go to all lengths, including blackmail, to secure consent, endorsement and a semblance of legitimacy.”
He has however called upon the Kenyan people to remain resilient and firm in defending democracy as they await the court’s verdict.

So, leave the poor wananchi to move forward with their life.
You are just drugging behind the country. Since we were born, we haven’t seen what you can proof to us as leaders. You’re just like a scalar quantity that doesn’t have dimensions.
