President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William Ruto will be the chief guests during Ann Waiguru’s swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday.

The Kirinyaga event was planned for Monday but was pushed to the following day to allow the two Jubilee Party leaders attend.

Area Jubilee Party vice chairman Mureithi Kangara told the Star that the fete will be hosted at the Kirinyaga University grounds.

“We are calling on residents to turn out in large numbers at the Kirinyaga university grounds in Kutus town on Tuesday.”

“The event will not take place on Monday as earlier planned,” Kangara said on Saturday.

Uhuru and Ruto are also expected to attend the swearing-in of Bomet Governor-elect Joyce Laboso and Kitui’s Charity Ngilu.

The three are the first women to be elected county top bosses.

During the 2013 general election, no woman was elected governor in all the 47 counties.

Waiguru beat Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, incumbent Joseph Ndathi, businessmen Mureithi Kagai and Macharia Karani in last week’s elections.

The organisers had planned to host the ceremony at Kerugoya Stadium but residents protested on grounds that Kutus is the county’s headquarters.

Elsewhere in Samburu, Governor-elect Moses Lenolkulal will take the oath of office as he assumes his second term in office.

The event will be held at Maralal’s Kenyatta stadium despite elders’ curse which rendered the grounds unfit for use last year.

The organisers, however, were reluctant to divulge the amount of money which will be spent at the ceremony.

Bosco Ole Sambu, the planning committee chairperson, said he was not at liberty to reveal the details.
