With an aim of committing the country, Kenya, in the hands of God, the African Inland Church donated a bible to the first President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta through Rev. Timothy Kamau of AIC Bibilia Husema Kijabe decades ago.

(Prof. Teddy Kamau is son to the late Rev. Timothy Kamau. He was famous for the radio programme Wimbo Ni Upendao on Bibilia Husema-Kijabe, that the founding father Jomo loved to tune in and listen)

In continuing with this same historical donation, Rev. Christopher Maridany Arap Mutai donated bibles for the swearing in of the fourth President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto on November 28, 2017, at the Safaricom Kasarani Stadium.

He handed the bible to the Director of the Kenya National Archives Francis Mwangi, who is the current custodian of all historical artifacts for the country.

The national archives then delivered the bible to the office of the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Anne Amadi who officially swears in the President and his Deputy between 10 am and 2 pm on the appointed day.

The donation is based on Hebrews 6:16 “For men verily swear by the Greater and an Oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.”

It remains a wait-and-see situation on whether the Chief Registrar will use the bible donated by the church.

The bible is an expository bible with national flags of different countries, including Kenya, printed on its hardcover all round.

Rev. Mutai said it was always an honour for the church to be involved in shaping the history of the country through prayer, teaching the scriptures and encouraging leaders and Kenyans to live the scriptures.

The swearing in of President Uhuru Kenyatta for a second term remains a highly anticipated event after the country went through two elections (August 8 and October 26) within one year.

The National Resistance Movement led by Raila Odinga plans to hold a parallel meeting during the swearing-in ceremony in protest over the win by the Jubilee party.
