Kenya has been recognized as the most generous country in Africa, according to the World Giving Index published by the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF).
The index evaluates generosity based on three key behaviors: helping strangers, donating money, and volunteering time.
In the latest report, Kenya achieved the following scores:
- Helping Strangers: 76% of adults have assisted strangers, placing Kenya among the top globally in this category.
- Donating Money: 53% of adults have donated money to charitable causes.
- Volunteering Time: 51% of adults have volunteered their time to various causes.
These statistics highlight Kenya’s strong culture of giving and community support. Despite facing economic challenges, including rising costs of living and unemployment, the Kenyan populace continues to demonstrate remarkable generosity.
Globally, Kenya ranks 11th in the World Giving Index, reflecting its consistent commitment to charitable activities.
Other African nations also exhibit significant generosity. Liberia, for instance, ranks second in Africa, with 80% of adults having helped strangers, 30% donating money, and 65% volunteering time.
These findings underscore the deep-rooted culture of philanthropy and communal support prevalent across the African continent.
