The cost of the two top government officials’ watches has cost a plethora of reactions from the citizens, who never miss a chance to express their free opinion.

Rotich showed up in court with a Frederique Constant Men’s Horological Smartwatch with an alligator leather strap, metallic casing and navy blue dial.

The manufacturer’s online details show that this watch retails for 1,250 Euros, which is an equivalent of Ksh144,726.

Thugge wore the more expensive piece, a Breitling Chronomat 44 GMT with steel strap.

Below is a sample of their reactions on Rotich and Thugge’s watches:

Daniel Otieno: “They use expensive watches to check the time for stealing billions.”

Denny Wa Evalyn: “That is very cheap.”

Baba Nabil Ibrahim: “My watch cost me 65K and am a hustler. What is that to a whole minister of finance. He needs to upgrade boss.”

Kwamboka Kadzo: “Hawa watu waliingia serikali juzi juzi (these people got into government recently) are now living large. You don’t need any proof to know that they are corrupt.”

Kariuki Njenga: “Very cheap with his billions”

Dfre Ageng’a Japacho: “You wanted him to wear Asahi, disco or seiko 5..watch?”

Lokpunya Lemeray: “A good reason as to why we should vote out both Uhuru and Ruto come 2022…If we are to have a new Kenya and to open a new clean chapter, Ruto should not vie for presidency just the same way his partner is retiring.”

John Mwangi Kamau: “Surely? what connection has their wristwatches got to do with their cases if I may ask?”
