VIDEO: Waiguru’s story-The Politician who mentored her political career. Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru opened up about the politician who had mentored her into her political career and whom she feared and respected during a women’s forum in January 2019.
While sharing her political journey with women leaders at the first forum for Women Ward Administrators, Waiguru stated that Samburu Woman Representative Maison Leshoomo had played a critical part in her political journey.
She disclosed that the MPÂ had nurtured her career and was not shy to call her out whenever she did something wrong.
“If there is one person I can count on in this country is Maison Leshoomo,” she began.
“When I say something that she does not approve to the media, I hide because when she finds me, she tells me that I have done something wrong and that I have to apologise,” she added.
Further, Waiguru stated that Leshoomo had also mentored the Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuda.
“Leshoomo told Naisula to run for the MP seat and assured her that she would be elected. She further accompanied her to every meeting and campaign in Samburu,” she disclosed.
Waiguru urged the women in attendance to do all they could to mentor and encourage other women in leadership.
“When you’re secure, you are able to raise a thousand women around you and still have a place for yourself. You are not threatened,” she concluded.
