Hey Diaspora : Stop lowering your self worth here in the west!
If you are not ready to hear this, it’s OK, just pass!..I get a lot of shade thrown at me for saying the truth, that many will never say!.I am not trying to put down anyone but I have to say it!..and by the way, this post is only for those with at least a Bachelor’s degree and some corporate experience from motherland!
Educated Africans in the diaspora who have the right immigration papers,we really need to talk!! Stop being comfortable doing these low paying jobs for years and years which are not a reflection of our intellectual ability!…Do you ever see Indians doing those Jobs?..Ask yourself why!
It is OK to do this for a couple of years once you relocate so as to pay your bills and such but you should never let that be your career Job unless you love doing it and it pays you extremely well.
Give respect to those academic papers and work experience that you have from the motherland!..We spent so many years of hard work and pain to get them!
Don’t lower your self worth please just because you are in the diaspora!.Let me ask you…Assuming you were making exact same amount of money for such jobs in Kenya, would you do it?
Be ambitious, there are some really cool Jobs out there in the corporate world in the diaspora!…Get a career coach, work on that resume!..You don’t need to get American or European education to get an awesome Job, Our degrees are good enough!!!…It is a misconception that a lot of people have!
