Police officers in India have arrested a Kenyan woman for allegedly assaulting a team of patrol officers. The duo was reported to have abused other residents in the area, sparking a confrontation that forced the victims to alert the police.

According to the police, the two women were asked to head home after the officers solved the case amicably.

“A group of African women beat up policemen attached to the Cubbon Park Station and created a ruckus on Brigade Road after they were asked to go home in the early hours of Monday,” the police reported.

However, the two reportedly attacked the team after a heated argument ensued and attracted a crowd by causing chaos on Brigade Road.

After being picked by the police, the duo was taken to the Bowring Hospital for medical examination and a subsequent report indicated they were intoxicated.

When interviewed by the police, the two also reportedly gave false details about their nationality before the police uncovered the truth.

Police officials found the passport of the Kenyan woman who had traveled to India on a tourist visa that had since expired. She was therefore staying in the country illegally.

“We found her passport, she will be booked under the Foreigners Act for overstaying in the city. We are also making efforts to nab the other woman who was involved in the assault case,” the police stated.

The Indian Constitution states that a foreigner who violates the Foreigners Act 1946, will be sentenced to imprisonment for up to five years inclusive of a fine.

Also, the police discovered the woman was living in Kammanahalli a popular city in North Bangalore  India.

The two were released and issued a notice to present themselves for interrogation but the suspect in the case was reported to have fled forcing police to launch a manhunt to track her down.
