A growing wave of concern has gripped the Kenyan diaspora community after reports emerged that a Kenyan woman identified as Yvonne Vugutsa Mujukuane has gone missing in Saudi Arabia under troubling circumstances.
According to information shared by family members and friends, Yvonne, who is originally from Nairobi, traveled to Saudi Arabia in January 2024 in search of employment opportunities. She reportedly worked in the city of Tabuk after securing a job through H.A Forever Limited Agency in Kenya and a Saudi recruitment agency identified as Khyariat.
However, communication with her allegedly became increasingly difficult after she reportedly fell ill upon completing her work contract.
Family Raises Alarm Over Yvonne Vugutsa’s Disappearance
Family members say Yvonne was expected to return to Kenya between January and February 2026, but she never made it home. Her relatives now claim they have been unable to consistently reach her and fear for her safety and well-being.
According to the information circulated online, Yvonne’s employer allegedly refused to release her after she became sick, despite her contract reportedly coming to an end.
The case has sparked emotional reactions among Kenyans both at home and abroad, with many calling for urgent intervention from Kenyan authorities, labor agencies, and the Kenyan Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
Friends and relatives are now appealing to anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to come forward.
Concerns Over Kenyan Workers in Gulf Countries
Yvonne Vugutsa’s case once again highlights the ongoing concerns surrounding the welfare of Kenyan migrant workers in Gulf countries, especially domestic and low-wage workers who sometimes face challenges related to:
- Contract violations
- Delayed salaries
- Confiscation of passports
- Medical neglect
- Communication restrictions
- Difficult working conditions
Over the years, human rights organizations and diaspora groups have repeatedly called for stronger protections for Kenyan workers abroad, particularly women seeking employment opportunities in the Middle East.
The Kenyan government has previously pledged to improve oversight of recruitment agencies and strengthen support systems for citizens working overseas.
Appeal for Information
Family members and friends are urging anyone with credible information regarding Yvonne Vugutsa’s location or condition to contact the numbers circulating in the missing person notice or report to the nearest authorities.
Kenyans online have also been encouraged to share her story widely in hopes of locating her safely.
The diaspora community continues to pray for her safe return home as pressure mounts for authorities to investigate the matter urgently.
