Sonko has said he is working with Governor Kidero to give Nairobi strict laws to tame careless drivers in the city. “We are coming up with strict laws since some drivers don’t care about passengers’ lives.
“We will not tolerate carelessness on our roads anymore,” Sonko said. “I’m working hand in hand with Governor Kidero to push for strict regulations, and if you’re a repeat offender, be ready to lose your licence.”
The move comes amid growing concerns over road safety, especially in urban centres like Nairobi where reckless driving is a leading cause of accidents.
If they are not going to change then we will revoke their licences for good,” he said. “We will also arrest officers who collude with drivers and matatu owners who protect their vehicles whenever they are involved in accidents or break traffic rules.”
