ODM legislators now want the party’s National Executive Council to intervene and resolve the differences between the party leader Raila Odinga and his deputy Musalia Mudavadi on the mode of electing its presidential candidate.
While Raila prefers a national delegates conference to decide ODM’s flag bearer, Mudavadi has opted for primaries at the counties.
At an ODM rally attended by Raila in Kajiado on Sunday, ODM MPs in attendance said the differences between the party’s top leaders does not augur well for its grassroot support and its future plans.
Several ODM legislators in Kajiado Sunday called on the party national executive council to arbitrate between the two leaders and reach a compromise on the row that is causing a crack in the party.
While addressing delegates in kajiado, Raila expressed confidence that the current tussle with his deputy will not play into the hands of their enemies.
The premier also moved to discount the notion that he was using the forum to popularize himself to the party delegates ahead of the party primaries.
The premier has scheduled a countrywide tour of the 47 counties to meet the newly elected grass root leaders.
