Former Chairman of the defunct Electoral Commission of Kenya, Samuel Kivuitu, has succumbed to cancer today on Monday night at the MP Shah Hospital in Nairobi.
The man who was at the helm of the electoral body during the contested 2007 election had recently declared he was cured from esophagus cancer.

Kivuitu took the helm of ECK from Chesoni who was in charge of the 1992 elections and has had a wonderful career which ended badly with the contested elections between Mwai Kibaki and Raila Odinga.
The career lawyer and faithful civil servant in two regimes had hoped to be a poll observer in the forthcoming March 4th general election.
