NCCK cautions against Uhuru presidency

Wednesday February 13, 2013 –National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK) has cautioned Kenyans against electing Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Eldoret North MP William Ruto saying there will be difficulties in running a Government from The Hague.

In a media conference at Jumuia place in Limuru on Wednesday, the Council said electing the duo, who are alleged to bear the greatest responsibilities of 2007-08 post election, will have consequences which will be felt by every Kenyan.
However, the council said Kenyans are free to pick a leader of their choice, saying there should be no interference from Western Countries on who should be elected on March 4th.
Uhuru Kenyatta, who is running for the Presidency on a Jubilee ticket and his running mate, William Ruto, have been indicted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) and their trials commence on April.
Several Europeans countries and the United States recently warned Kenyans that their choice of President in the upcoming poll will have unspecified ‘consequences’.
