The elections are over, the IEBC announced the President Elect, and still there is calm. Driving from Kijabe thisย eveningย the road has traffic, the small towns along the way to Nairobi are calm and the Gas Stations are open.
On entering Nairobi and joining the Uhuru Highway, there is traffic but the days celebrants have gone home. “Today we celebrate,ย tomorrowย we rest, but onย Mondayย we go back to work.” Declared the President Elect Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta.
On arriving at my destination in Nairobi, I turn on the TV just in time to watch as Citizen TV recaps the election events and signs out. Next week, if someone does not advice them to change his mind, the prime minister’s team will go to court to challenge the IEBC. This however will not change the fact that this time around, Kenyans exercised their constitutional right and tonight they sleep waiting to go to church tomorrow, thenย Mondayย assume their work.
My final thoughts on this years’ election are these, “Great Country, Great People, Peaceful Elections.”
