Property worth over Ksh 2 million was destroyed at Gombe Komolo primary school in North Alego location Siaya district, following a wind storm that blew off the roofs of their five classrooms on Thursday evening.

According to the school’s head teacher, the incident occurred during a heavy downpour that was accompanied by very strong winds.

The winds blew off five classes’ roofs and part of the administration block which caused damage to the schools property.

The head teacher of the school Mr. David Otieno Opela said the incident will force the affected pupils to take their lessons under trees for the time being, as they work on ways of renovating the classes since they were seriously damaged.

Mr. Opela explained that the roofs were blown off and the walls of those affected blocks left totally dilapidated with huge cracks all over, hence rendering them unfit for use before they are repaired.

Mr. Opela has appealed to the Ministry of Education to come to the school’s aid so that they can renovate the classrooms to restore a conducive learning environment for the affected pupils.
