President Uhuru Kenyatta who arrived this morning from London is expected to leave the country again for Cape Town, South Africa later in the day.

In a brief statement, the Presidential Press Service said President Kenyatta will be on a four-day official visit.

During the visit, President Kenyatta will attend the World Economic Forum on Africa and hold a bilateral meeting with South Africa President Jacob Zuma.

The Head of State will meet and address Kenyans living and working in South Africa.

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has recently returned to Kenya after fulfilling his role as the head of the African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM) in South Africa.

He led a team of 60 observers monitoring the country’s general elections held on May 29, 2024, which aimed to elect a new National Assembly and Provincial Legislatures across all nine provinces.

Upon arrival in South Africa, he was received by High Commissioner Jane Ndurumo and African Union officials at Oliver Tambo International Airport.

During his stay, President Kenyatta engaged with various stakeholders to ensure a transparent and peaceful electoral process. Notably, he met with the African Diplomatic Corps to discuss the importance of upholding democratic standards .

Additionally, he visited President Cyril Ramaphosa in Pretoria, where they discussed the progress and challenges observed during the elections.

Following his mission in South Africa, President Kenyatta returned to Kenya. His recent engagements, including his participation in the East Africa Regional Global Health Security Summit in Mombasa in January 2025, indicate his continued involvement in regional and continental affairs .
